ALWAYS HAND PAINTED.
ALWAYS HUMAN MADE.
Since 2019
Hi y’all!
Welcome to Human Made Signs & Murals, where creativity meets craftsmanship! I'm Sam Redles, the owner and artist who is passionate about creating unique and eye-catching hand-painted signs and murals. With a passion for experimentation, I have worked on various surfaces including wood, fiberglass, brick, glass, corrugated metal, and more. Along with my husband, Tyler Dix, our sales and project manager, we approach each project with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to bringing your vision to life.
We are based in Baltimore, MD and serve the Mid-Atlantic area. We are willing to travel and have completed projects in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and New Hampshire. We have worked for small businesses, residential clients, and large corporations, such as Amazon, Under Armour, Guinness Brewery, Baltimore Public Markets Corporation, Patagonia, and more.

Besides being a visual artist, I earned my Master in Fine Art in Curatorial Practice from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA, 2015 ). I owe my sign painting career to my time at MICA. During graduate school I was required to choose a subject for my graduate thesis with the stipulation that I collaborated with a community partner to develop and install an exhibition. In partnership with the Baltimore Museum of Industry I curated, researched, designed fundraised, installed the exhibit NOT YET LOST! The Art of Maryland Sign Painters.
Through my research I found my tribe with the Walldogs, a group of highly skilled sign painters and muralists. In 2018 I was encouraged to pick up a brush and try my hand at the art. It was my moment in which I said, “This is what I need to do. This is what I need to pursue.” In 2019 I took the leap and started Human Made Signs & Murals. Fast forward to February 2022 when I met my now husband, Tyler, who over the next three years supported me with the business until he also made the leap and left his career to join Human Made Signs & Murals as our sales and project manager, and also as a Walldog.
